The battles on Cassino Hill were among any of the heaviest battles fought during planet War II. The Allies could not get it for long, only the soldiers of the 2nd Polish Armed Forces Corps in the West did it. On the eve of the 81st anniversary of those events, Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamish laid flowers at the Polish war cemetery on Monte Cassino.

For the Allies, the displacement of the Germans from Monte Cassino was 1 of the most crucial tasks during the Italian campaign. triumph opened their way to Rome. The head of the MON laid a wreath at the Polish War Cemetery commemorating 923 soldiers of the 2nd Corps who died during the battle. At Cassino Hill, Deputy Prime Minister met with scouts from Poland.

The plans of the head of the MON besides included a visit to the Museum of Memory of the 2nd Polish Corps, which is located on Monte Cassino. The museum was opened 11 years ago and its inauguration was attended by Prime Minister Donald Tusk. In the afternoon, Deputy Prime Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz and Mayor Cassino laid flowers under the memorial of General Władysław Andres, the legendary commander of the 2nd Corps. The celebration in the town was held with military assistance.

The heroism of Poles fighting at Monte Cassino is described by the educational way created at the initiative of the Military Publishing Institute, the publisher of, among others, “Polish Armed Forces”. On the slope of the hill, on a 12-mile route, 12 plaques were set, which inform about the 2nd Corps combat trail. The way opened in 2021.
