LAHORE – Pakistan International Airlines flight PK306 suffered an incident at Lahore Airport on Wednesday, March 12th. The Airbus A320-200 (AP-BLS) operating the flight touched down from its flight from Karachi on only one wheel.
PK306 took off from Karachi Airport at 7:59pm local time, one minute ahead of schedule, and arrived at its destination safely at 9:15pm local time, 30 minutes ahead of schedule, in what was a generally uneventful flight, with a subsequent aircraft inspection concluding that a rear tyre was missing.

PK306 Incident at Lahore
The critical phases of PK306 passed safely as the Airbus A320 departed and arrived from Karachi and Lahore, respectively, ahead of its scheduled timings. A discovery regarding the missing tyre was made during a subsequent inspection of the aircraft after its landing.

Nearly 24 hours have passed since the aircraft landed at Lahore International Airport, though no trace of the missing tyre has been found yet, either at Karachi or at the destination. The pilots were also unaware of the incident, especially given that the landing and taxi was a normal phase.
CAA Investigation Launched
The Civil Aviation Authority of Pakistan launched an immediate investigation into the PK306 incident with the initial observations hinting that the aircraft must have struck an external object on the runway during its take-off roll at Karachi Airport.

Pakistan International Airline is also working closely with the Civil Authority of Aviation to unfold the incident, with the aircraft in concern also grounded. As per Flightradar24, its trip for 13th March to Oman, Muscat, as PK229 has also been cancelled by the national carrier.
The incident highlights the lack of safety in Pakistan aviation, where minor incidents occur on practically a regular basis. The issue in concern is PIA’s second ongoing investigation of 2025, after PK150 landed on the wrong runway in Multan in January 2025.
