At the Military Medical Institute in Warsaw, a modern refrigeration vending device was installed to receive medical shipments requiring controlled temperature. The infirmary authorities decided to invest in an intelligent transportation management strategy to increase staff efficiency and guarantee safe and efficient management of shipments of biological materials directed to the laboratory for further research.

The Institute is an extended institution, in which respective clinics operate. This frequently created difficulties for couriers in locating the cabinets from which they were to choice up shipments with, for example, biological material broadcast to laboratories. Thanks to the Coolockers from Qbee, this process will be considerably simplified. The device was mounted in a strategical location, providing couriers with easy access to the lockers around the clock, 7 days a week minimising the hospital's work disruption.

Apart from the device itself, the infirmary was equipped with an advanced shipping management system, whereby each package supplied or broadcast by the vending device is electronically recorded. The recognition of consignments is carried out by means of a unique code on the package, which is scanned at each phase of the delivery, allows tracking of its way and ensures that it only reaches the authorised consignee.

"As WIM-PIB, we are trying to guarantee that our solutions support the regular work of our staff and increase their efficiency. We are a very large facility and we cooperate with many external actors, which involves transferring biological material to them. specified consignments require a peculiar mode and peculiar retention and transport conditions. The creation of specified a “medical package” will improve the full process and reduce the occurrence of undesirable situations," said method and Exploitation Branch manager Jacek Matuszak.

The fresh procedure for transmitting and receiving laboratory shipments will greatly improve the regular operations of medical personnel and improve infirmary logistics. The packaging device provides convenient retention of test materials in retention compartments with a protective temperature of their properties. It helps to optimally usage the space in the hospital, eliminating the request to make additional warehouses or reception points and protects against theft and access of the incorrect people.
