The Polish Post Office in its authoritative communication stressed that these problems are completely independent of it. The decision to temporarily limit part of the services was forced by fresh American regulations, introduced by Donald Trump's administrative regulation. These changes affect not only Poland, but the full European Union and the remainder of the world.
Why did the Polish Post suspend packages to the US?
The problem stems from the US implementing regulation, which " suspends de minimis work exemption for all countries" and enters into force on August 29. To date, goods worth up to $800 (about PLN 3 thousand) have been exempt from customs work on entry into the USA.
However, the fresh rules abolish this limit. Thus now "each consignment with the goods will be subject to customs work in the US regardless of its value and country of delivery".
However, the main reason for the suspension of postal services is the deficiency of circumstantial features on the fresh procedures. The Polish Post Office explains this by citing the position of the PostEurop Association representing European postal operators:
"Key issues and processes specified as customs collection, data collection and cooperation with the US Customs and Border Protection Service have not yet been clearly defined," we read on the website.
In the absence of guidance on how to collect duties and what data to transmit to US services, postal operators are not able to handle shipments of goods properly. It forced them to make a decision about temporarily stopping broadcasting.
What can't be sent to the US since August 25? What's inactive possible?
According to the Polish Post Office, the following consignments containing goods were suspended until further notice:
Postal parcels, including those with declared value.
Letters with declared value.
Unregistered and registered mail.
Global Express package.
EMS delivery.
The restrictions shall not cover consignments which do not contain goods. It is easy to inactive broadcast:
Unregistered and registered mail, the contents of which are exclusively correspondence and documents.
EMS shipments with documents.

Poland is not isolated. According to Poczta Polska, "similar restrictions introduced many another postal administrations in Europe". PostEurop stresses that the fresh government will have a "significant impact on all postal companies worldwide".
At this point, it is not known how long the restrictions will last. The suspension shall stay valid until further notice. The Polish Post Office ensures that it keeps monitoring the situation and resumes receiving shipments, "as shortly as possible". You can read the full message here.
Broadcasters must so be patient due to the fact that the solution to the problem lies with the American administration, which must clarify the fresh procedures. However, we must prepare for the fact that then sending even a tiny package will be more costly due to the cost of paying the duty.
