Eight Afghan citizens attempted to illegally cross the Polish-Lithuanian border in the Sejn area. Border defender officers stopped the full group, and after completing the formalities they transferred men to the Lithuanian side. It's another signal that the force on this section of the border is not weakening.
Eight detainees
The Border defender informed about the illegal crossing of the Polish-Lithuanian border. 8 men, all Afghan citizens, were detained. The incidental occurred on an episode administered by the Sejny facility, in the north-eastern end of the country.
Officers seized the group and then carried out legitimate actions against detainees. The video provided by the service shows uniforms escorting foreigners to the vehicle. This was the only specified incidental reported on this episode in fresh days.
Turned to Lithuania
After the completion of the procedures, 8 Afghans were transferred to the Lithuanian services, which took over their further investigation. The Polish-Lithuanian border is the interior border of the European Union, which is why in specified cases there is simply a readmission mechanism: people who have illegally entered from 1 country to another return where they came from.
In practice, this means that men are back on the Lithuanian side, and Lithuania is now liable for deciding their status. The Polish organization closed the case in its territory efficiently and in accordance with the procedure.
Broader Image
Single detention of 8 people does not impress a large event, but it is arranged in a well-known painting for respective years. The east flank of the European Union remains the mark of attempts at illegal migration, and the routes leading through Belarus and the Baltic States have not closed with fresh tightenings. The group that tries to enter Poland from the side of Lithuania is simply a fragment of the same puzzle.
For public order and a sense of safety of border residents, first of all, the effectiveness of the service is important. The smooth halt and return of the group shows that control of this section of the border is working. At the same time, it reminds us that vigilance must be constant due to the fact that trials do not diminish.
