The Autonomous Systems Centre will aid overcome administrative barriers and accelerate implementation into the army of unmanned systems – said Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamish during the ceremony of signing the agreement establishing the OSA. The first task of the fresh centre will be to test “Polish Shahed” in April and to bring the unmanned task to the production stage.
Deputy Prime Minister, Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and Deputy Head of the MON Cezary Tomczyk took part in the signing of the agreement establishing the Autonomous Systems Centre in Warsaw. The fresh technological and industrial centre consists of military investigation institutes, the IDEAS investigation Institute and the Polish Armed Forces Group, with the method Institute of the Aviation Forces at the head. The OSA will coordinate the cooperation of troops, scientists and defence manufacture on unmanned workers and test fresh structures. – Unmanned, flying, ground, underwater systems in all types of troops are already present, but they must be multiplied," said Deputy Prime Minister Kosiniak-Kamish. He stressed that OSA was besides there to overcome administrative barriers and accelerate the implementation of drones in the army.
One of the first tasks of the centre will be investigating Polish construction. – At the finish of the work – and here I would like to proudly inform – is “Polish Shahed”, developed as part of the program “Pelargonia”. (...) This is the first task for OSA, which must be brought to full usage as shortly as possible," stressed the head of the MON. He announced that the “Polish Shahed” tests are to be carried out in April at the training ground in Ustka.
– Drones, drones and again dronesOh, my God! This is simply a clear signal for all of us present that these abilities must be built intensively," said Deputy Minister Cezary Tomczyk. He recalled that in 2023 the Ministry of National Defence allocated about PLN 100 million to unmanned systems. – In 2024, in the first year of our governments, it was already PLN 300 million, and in 2025 – PLN 700 million. In 2026 we presume that on drones, unmanned systems, autonomous systems and Anti-drone systems We will allocate about PLN 25 billion – he calculated.
The activities of the OSA, led by Colonel Mariusz Ziej, are intended to shorten the process of moving from the concept of an unmanned strategy to solutions ready for usage in the field of combat. The centre is to focus its national technological possible on drones, draw on start-ups and investigation institutes, test, transfer to military investigating and implement autonomous systems for mass production. Colonel Ziej stressed that he hoped to cooperate with all military units, so that Polish scientists and engineers could benefit from the conclusions and opinions of soldiers during work on unmanned projects.
