U.S. Vice president J.D. Vance reported that both the United States and Iran are complying with the terms of the first peace agreement. As a result, free shipping through the Ormuz Strait, a key oil transport route, was resumed.
According to Vance, 12.5 million barrels of oil have passed through the Strait last night, a evidence since the beginning of the conflict. He besides stressed that Iran was not attacking merchant ships for the second day in a row, and that the US CENTCOM command lifted the previously introduced blockade and allowed a twelve units to pass.
The vice president noted that he expected Israel to comply with the agreement as well. He criticized Israeli actions in Lebanon and any statements from members of the Israeli government attacking the Donald Trump administration. He recalled that the US remained Israel's most crucial ally and the main supplier of defence weapons.
Vance besides defended the decision to temporarily mitigate parts of the sanctions against Iran. In his opinion, the restrictions on oil exports were no longer effective, and their maintenance simply forced Iran to sale natural material at low prices – mainly to China. However, he stressed that most of the sanctions would stay in force until Tehran's atomic commitments were full implemented.
