AM General received in the summertime of 2023 a contract worth about USD 10.8 billion for the transportation of 20,682 JLTV household cars and 9,833 dedicated single-axle trailers for the U.S. Army. Their production was due to begin in August of that year, but as the English-speaking media (e.g. defence News) informs, this will be delayed by at least six months. Thus the deadline for transportation to the U.S. Army of the first vehicles will be postponed. The reason should be, among others, the problem with beginning the production line, which is the consequence of the decision to change the manufacturer. This includes many factors arising from intellectual property rights or problems in contact with suppliers. In addition to this AM General was to encounter difficulties in obtaining specialized equipment for the factory, essential to produce JLTV and meet the quality requirements of the American Army as regards individual components.
