‘BURZA’ OPERATION — erstwhile OF 80 YEARS

THE planet OLD ARMATION INFORMATION OFFICE

In the coming 2024 marks the 80th anniversary of 2 large national rallies, undertaken by the National Army in 1944.

– “Burza” and its integral part of the Warsaw Uprising.

Both were launched against the coming from the east front and – the losers and retreating all the way under the russian storm – the Germans.

The National Army, which is an armed arm and a political representation of the only legal government of the Republic of Poland at the departure in London, took armed action to confirm, among others, the existence of legitimate Polish authorities in the area occupied since 1939.

The nation that loses memory ceases to be a Nation – it becomes only a collection of people temporarily occupying the given territory – quoting the words of Józef Piłsudski here, we will effort to celebrate the coming anniversary in the coming year, giving as much cognition of these glorious but tragic events as possible to the country.

As Dr. Andrzej Chmielarz writes – In mid-1944, the deficiency of political effects of the erstwhile actions "Burza" prompted the commander of the AK and the Government Delegate to throw Warsaw into the fight.

The Warsaw Uprising, due to its measure, is frequently not considered as 1 of the elements of Operation "Burza", even though it took place within its framework and was organically connected with it.

At the end of 1944, General Leopold Okulicki, 1 of the Insurgency's inspirers, confirmed this.

Western states informed by Polish authorities about russian actions against the Home Army and Poles did not react, giving Stalin practically free hand in Polish matters and taking note of his cynical statements diminishing the activities of the AK.

Unquestionably, Operation “Burza” was the largest operation of the National Army. AK soldiers had a number of spectacular successes.
In view of its military aspect, the “Burza” activities have shown the advanced efficiency of preparatory work during the conspiracy period and the considerable efficiency and effectiveness of the underground military.

From a political point of view, “Burza” was a losing operation and did not change the course of enslavement of Poland in the slightest.

D-cy AK's dispatch to the Chief Commander on the issue of guidelines in the event of demolition of the AK troops.

Although many volumes of studies have already been written on this subject, inactive fresh facts appear from archives and the abyss of history, frequently diametrically changing the state of knowledge.

They are the subject of lively discussions, and even conflicts of national pride. For half a century of communist misinformation, these myths frequently missed the truth, which can yet be reached by documents, orders, reports and another artifacts, now found in archives, museums and private collections, both home and foreign.

This is frequently a tedious combination of seemingly insignificant data, specified as supplies, food, uniforms, weapons, or equipment supplied, from which an image of the actual salaries of both armies emerges, confirming or correcting fundamentally their operational capabilities.

Over the last fewer months, they have appeared in the news
“AK Information Bulletin” publications showing in what operational realities passing through Poland in 1944 the east Front took place the implementation of the “Burza” Action, as well as what took place on the alleged Warsaw suburb and in the Capital itself.

In the following materials you will besides find references to another publications and web pages developing the subject of:

As in conditions of concentration of serious German forces, the AK tried to carry out Operation “Burza” in the areas between San and Vistula.

In January 1945 they sank while crossing the river, trying to get out of the lap during 1 of the largest armoured battles on Polish lands, which is taking place in the area of Radomic, in the area of the ramovsko-Sandomiersk foothold.

Knowledge contained in the above articles may give a broader position on the military situation of the “Burza” action and the decisions taken at the time.

In the face of the turbulent reality we are experiencing again, the awareness of where we live and where we are going can find our future decisions, and drawing correct conclusions from past will let us to avoid mistakes.
