Erich Wolfgang Korngold, a winner of 2 Oscars, was erstwhile the second most popular composer of German operas, just after Richard Strauss. His work, however, went to the lame for respective decades. "Violanta" – an opera he composed erstwhile he was only eighteen years old present delights with maturity. Donald Runnicles resembles this almost forgotten work with large success in Berlin's Deutsche Oper.
