The balance sheet of the III Republic is undoubtedly positive. This does not mean, however, that we should stay silent about many years of negligence or look through the fingers at the achievements of opposition politicians. In the article “The Angry Generation” (POLITYKA 6) Mariusz Janicki and Wiesław Vladyka filed a series of charges against today's 30- and 40-year-olds. As I am among the defendants, I feel obliged to take up my position.

The authors of the article quoted colourful quotes from interviews with, among others, Pablopavo, Szczepan Twardoch or with me; there were besides references to the late released “The End of Generations of Subservience” by Jarosław Kuish. I have the impression that it was besides easy for Mr.Janicki and Vladice on this basis to put the general ones on this basis, too, in relation to the generational experiences and expectations of the 3rd Polish Republic, concerning, for example, "some disregard of manifestation in defence of the regulation of law" or "the circumstantial alignment of the importance of many threads – economic, political, moral, cultural".

That position cannot be accepted. The fact is that the vast majority of us are well aware of the importance of the systemic achievements of the 3rd Republic of Poland; of the importance of the three-partition of authorities and of the fundamental importance of independent judiciary within this three-partition. We are curious in the destiny of civilian liberties and freedom of the media, measuring the streak of global disgrace, worrying about a sharp turn towards the authoritarian state. Moreover, any of us frequently talk publically on this matter, which seems to have escaped the authors altogether.

On the another hand, I do not believe that the agreement on the basic principles of the strategy deprives us of the right to make critical assessments about the political class, whether it be the ruling camp or the opposition.
