On the margins of the case discussed recently, it is worth noting that the highly insulting character of self-criticism, which is demanded by today's ideological soft totalitarianism, is evidenced by the vanity of his threats and his causative failure.
The submission of classical Stalinist self-criticism may have justified the fact that their failure threatened to permanently lose their health, freedom or life – theirs or their loved ones. On the another hand, the present “western” totalitarianism may at most make it hard for the unsubordinated permanent participation in the already clearly ending “great food” and parading in the increasingly mediocre marketplace of vanity.
In another words, classical totalitarianisms were powerful, muscular and threatening – both in terms of their executive capabilities and their faithful expectations. Meanwhile, their contemporary heirs – at least in our part of the planet – are only grumpy, slimy and infantilely malicious. The poorer the opponent, and thus the little danger on his part, the greater the harm to the soul suffered by him who succumbs to him – especially if he does so rapidly and in service.
In conclusion, to be humbled dishonestly before a bloodthirsty lion is not necessarily to sale honor for mediocre silver pieces, especially if on the first chance you are prepared to cancel and explain a strategical intention. On the another hand, to grovel in front of the herd of at most onerous bugs and fleas it virtually trade everything for nothing – and unfortunately not exclusively and not primarily on a material level. Let us keep this in head all the more so, the more persistently akin phenomena occur, and the sooner they go distant into social impassion, saving the spiritual absence of their potential, not adequate resolvable sacrifices.
