The laying by president Andrzej Duda of a bundle on the graves of the commanders of the Armed Forces and the National Army at Military Powązki and the celebrations in front of the monument of the Polish Underground State and the AK will be celebrated for the first time the National Day of Memory of National Army Soldiers.
The initiator of this state vacation was the Office for Combatants and Repressed Persons. On 14 February 1942, Chief General Władysław Sikorski ordered the conversion of the Armed Forces Union into the National Army.
– We have managed together, without any dispute, to fill the gap that has arisen in fresh years. For 35 years of free Poland we have earned many very crucial state holidays, including those concerning Polish weapons and soldiers fighting on various fronts of planet War II. 1 day was missing in which we could celebrate the National Army – the largest underground Polish army and 1 of the largest underground European armies – said PAP head of Lech Parell Office.
The Act establishing the National Day of Memory for National Army Soldiers was unanimously adopted by the Sejm on 9 January. "In tribute to the soldiers of the National Army – the largest underground army in Germany and Russia of Europe, an army which, as the armed arm of the Polish Underground State, led a heroic fight for regaining Polish sovereignty and independence, and whose soldiers were persecuted by communist authorities dependent on the russian Union after planet War II", she says. She was besides unanimously supported by the Senate.
On 6 February, president Andrzej Duda signed the Act establishing this holiday. "This vacation is important. It covers the full spectrum and respects all participants in that fight," the president noted. He pointed out that he was commemorating soldiers of the Home Army who "in the conspiracy under German business fought to regain independence, for free and sovereign Poland". He besides recalled that the AK was the largest underground army in Europe during planet War II. "It was besides part of the full underground structure of the Polish Underground State," added the president.

On the occasion of the National Day of Memory of Soldiers of the National Army, the Archive of fresh Acts encouraged the usage of the first archives of the AK – it counts about 250 1000 documents. These materials are available in the Reader's Archive of fresh Acts and in the successively enlarged part online – on the portal searchwarchiwach.gov.pl and online exhibitions on the AAN website.
The Archive of the fresh Acts reminded that in cooperation with the Kombatant environments it conducts search for AK archives, supplementing the resource with fresh papers each year. "On the occasion of the National Day of Memory of the National Army Soldiers, we address the appeal – If individual has archives that should become part of the AAN resource, be secured and made available to researchers, we encourage contact," AAN called.
