About a 100 people were detained in fresh York on Thursday during a demonstration held close the United Nations headquarters. The protest took place shortly before the Israeli Prime Minister Binjamin Netanyahu spoke at the 81st UN General Assembly meeting.

Among the detainees were 2 actresses – Oscar winner Susan Sarandon and Hannah Einbinder. According to “Variety”, both actresses have been speaking publically for a long time about the situation of Palestinians.

During the September movie festival in Venice, Sarandon spoke, among another things, of the consequences that she experienced after expressing her position on Palestine. The actor claimed that her views affected the professional situation and led to the failure of any movie proposals. According to her report, any agencies were to discourage producers from entrusting their roles.

Einbinder spoke on Palestine at this year's Cannes movie Festival.

The demonstration took place during the ongoing debate on Israel's actions in Gaza. In his speech at the session of the UN General Assembly, Netanyahu rejected the accusations that Israel commits genocide in Gaza.
