The Government of Tusk “failed” women?
The communicative in the left-wing publicist became sharper for all observer of Polish public life. Here is proof, a fragment of the text from the portal Oko.press:
‘Polishes exposed to the wind of change? Anti-Women 3rd Road and Government of Tusk men to pain... The satisfaction of the aspirations of Poles who have saved democracy is mainly hampered by the 3rd Road... It is expected that in Donald Tusk's government there will be only 4 women for 20 people, or 20 percent, as in Morawiecki's government. This would give Poland the 95th place in the government-gender classification of 186 countries (ex aequo with Burkina Faso and Moldova) and the seventh place in the EU from the end‘.
TK's ruling was a gift to the democratic opposition
Of course, any women believe that sexist views appear in public spaces – "features and not sex should be counted in the award of posts", but let us not forget that the Law and Justice Service has alienated many women erstwhile it has given green light to the conclusion of the alleged abortion compromise, which became a fact due to the Constitutional Court's judgment. The National Women's Strike was a bottom-up initiative, created in September 2016, in consequence to Parliament's rejection of the bill "Save Women" and at the same time referral to work in the committee of the task "Stop Abortion". It was he who coordinated the alleged Black Monday – manifestations held simultaneously in 147 cities of Poland. It was political fuel for the democratic opposition against the Law and Justice.
At the time, after the controversial judgement of the Constitutional Court, many Polish cities were brought to the streets by people who had not been curious in politics so far, they simply had a deep respect for the regulation of the Laws, but erstwhile their rights were violated, they did not stay indifferent.
There will be no liberalisation of abortion in this parliamentary term?
The coalition agreement did not take place on the issue of "abortion", which is due to the conservative views of Part 3 of the Way (especially PSL Members). The Left, Włodzimierz Czarzasty, has already acknowledged in an interview with Robert Mazurek at RMF FM that it will most likely be a problem in this parliamentary word to push the liberalisation of the abortion right. Let us point out that the already mentioned coalition agreement does not even have a compromise agreement on the decriminalisation of abortion.
The fact that abortion will not be 1 of the priorities of the fresh government may concern many women and peculiarly supporters of the Left, who voted for parties forming a democratic opposition not only to remove the Law and Justices from power, but besides with a view to introducing different world-view – progressive and liberal governments in Poland. Meanwhile, as you can see, both ideally and personally in Donald Tusk's office there will be reasons for women to have reservations.
It seems that KO presents large pragmatism in action, and the 3rd Way has a strong conservative, pro-Catholic faction, only the Left is full convinced that issues crucial to women should be pushed through in Parliament and women should besides be appreciated in an adequate number of ministerial posts. Although let us add that the discovery of the Left – Łukasz Litewka, a novice MP, has late sat in an interview with “Gazeta Wyborcza” that he supports abortion until Week 12, but “only in justified cases, for example, erstwhile pregnancy threatens the lives and wellness of women”. Women may be a small disappointed, including to a large degree young people with progressive views.
