Tajiev's retreat: a political earthquake in Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyz president Sadyr Japarov on February 10 issued a decree to remove the head of the National safety Committee (GKNB) Kamczybek Tashiev, de facto the second individual in the state. 3 of his deputies were released shortly after, as well as changes to the GKNB itself. According to the President's authoritative statement, the decision determined "to prevent divisions in the country and to guarantee national unity".
