In the mid-1980s, the equipment crisis of Polish military aviation was most profoundly affected by naval aviation. While in those years the Air Force received more than 100 Su–22 fighter-bomb aircraft and began to prepare for the introduction of the next generation of MiG–29 machines, and the Air defence Army of the Country 72 MiG‐21bis fighter aircraft, there was a stagnation in naval aviation.
