From now on, there are rules prohibiting drift, or deliberate failure of contact with the surface of 1 of the vehicle's wheels and riding on 1 wheel. A fine of not little than PLN 1.5 1000 and the failure of a driving licence for 3 months will be threatened for drifting.
The provisions on the limitation of intentional drifting and riding on 1 wheel were included in the Act amending certain laws to improve road safety, which mostly entered into force on 29 January.
A fine of not little than 1500 PLN will be threatened for drifting alone, and if the drift poses a danger in road traffic – min. 2,500 PLN. Under the fresh regulations, a police officer will detain his driver's licence for 3 months for violating these offences.
The Police office Road Traffic Office has already announced that police officers will not apply any relief tariff to leaders who grossly violate regulations and endanger the safety of another traffic participants.
The Act amending certain laws in order to improve road safety from 29 January introduced fresh types of prohibited activities, including illegal racing, racing and another akin events, tightened criminal sanctions for grossly dangerous, reckless driving and breaking the judicial ban on driving and introduced fresh solutions concerning the failure of motor vehicles.
Changes are intended to destruct repeat offenders, i.e. drivers subject to multiple driving bans. The strengthening of sanctions is besides intended to increase road safety and to have a deterrent effect on offenders who are infringing the rules, threatening another road users.
The violation of the applicable judicial prohibition on driving is intended to consequence in a prohibition on driving for life. The Act besides provides for the anticipation of confiscating a motor vehicle for the State Treasury in the case of persons violating a judicial ban on driving, as is the case with road traffic offences committed under the influence of alcohol.
According to the fresh regulations, meetings of at least 10 vehicles must be notified to municipal authorities.
Traffic treatment is subject to fines on general terms (previously limited to PLN 500) and, in the event of a more serious disturbance, the court may further decide to pay up to PLN 1500.
