On 10 March at the Academy of War Art, Deputy Minister of National Defence Stanisław Wzątek inaugurated first degree studies in a fresh direction – Civil protection and civilian defence. The main aim of the program is to integrate the competences of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland, the Police and the Fire defender in the framework of a common strategy of human resources training for the safety of the state.
The joint course of survey was created by the agreement of the Academy of War Art, the Police Academy in Szczytno and the Fire Academy. The program has a rotational character – each year of survey takes place in another partner university, which provides students with access to teaching resources of all 3 uniformed services.
During the beginning of the academic year, Deputy Head of MON Stanisław Wzątek pointed out the systemic dimension of the project: – Modern state safety is not limited to the military dimension. It besides includes the state's ability to defend the population, to respond efficiently to emergencies and to build public resilience. Therefore, it is so crucial to cooperate with military, police and rescue environments and to train staff prepared to operate in this system," said the Deputy Minister.
Thematic scope (III year of survey – AszWoj)
As part of the last year of survey at the Academy of War Art, issues concerning state safety in the strategical dimension and civilian protection during the war are being pursued. The teaching scope includes, inter alia:
functioning of state structures in emergency situations;
management of the civilian protection strategy in the context of armed conflict;
protecting civilians and safeguarding their surviving needs in war conditions;
countering hybrid threats, diversion and sabotage;
analysis of modern armed conflicts in the field of civilian protection;
Principles of military cooperation with civilian administrations.
Graduates of the direction are prepared to take positions in government, local government and public safety institutions. The programme provides for the implementation of professional practices in the units subordinate to the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Interior and Administration.
