Occupied Mariupol. What is happening in a city that has become a symbol of war?

The Russian strike on Mariupol began on February 24, 2022 with the start of a multi-direction attack against Ukraine. On March 2, the city was surrounded and the siege began. The noose of the Russian encirclement tightened slowly, as the heroic and very tactically thoughtful defence of the city continued. 2 elite Ukrainian formations became notorious in the defensive fighting: the Azov Regiment and the 36th Marine Infantry Brigade.
