The commander of the American forces in Europe, General Christopher Donahue, informed on 17 July 2025 at the inaugural LandEuro conference in Wiesbaden, Germany that the NATO countries had begun to implement a fresh plan "Eastern Flank Deterrence Line". Its aim is to strengthen ground capabilities for Russia and to increase military-industrial interoperability throughout the North Atlantic Alliance.
