Police officers outside the house
On Monday after 6 a.m., police arrived outside Zbigniew Ziobry's house. They called the intercom respective times, but did not get an answer or an open door. Officers remained on site without revealing further details of their activities.
The decision to detain and force the erstwhile Minister of Justice, presently MP of the Law and Justice, issued a territory Court in Warsaw in mid September. The sitting of the Sejm committee of inquiry, whose only point is to interview Ziebra, is scheduled for Monday at 10:30 p.m.
A repeat of January?
This is already the second effort to force Zbigniew Ziobra to be brought before the Parliamentary Committee on Pegasus. Officers are to effort to detain him at all known addresses.
A akin situation occurred in January erstwhile police secured respective possible Ziobra locations. In the end, however, he was informed of his location by the Republic of Television, where the politician appeared live. After leaving the studio, he turned himself in to the officers who transported him to the Sejm.
However, the proceeding did not take place at the time, as at the time erstwhile Ziobro was already on his way to the committee, the gathering was concluded.
Ziobro is not in Poland
However, the current situation differs in any respects from the events of January this year. mostly due to the fact that Ziobro stayed outside Poland. On Sunday evening on tv in Poland24, however, reported that he had decided to return to the country. He announced that on Monday at 7:50 he would leave Brussels, which should let him to land in Warsaw around 10 o'clock.
It is not likely for most people who are observing the political scene, the secret that after I underwent a very complicated surgery to remove malignant cancer with metastasis in Belgium, subject to various rehabilitation processes. For this reason I am very frequently (in Belgium) by all means.
The erstwhile Minister of Justice, who was asked on Monday morning at Brussels airport about his possible evidence to the committee of inquiry, reiterated that his assessment of the effort to detain him was an illegal act.
It is now known that Ziobro appeared in the morning at the airport in Brussels, but refused to answer the questions of TVN24 correspondent Maciej Sokołowski, who was on site. The flight which was originally scheduled to take off at 7:50 was delayed – the plane to Warsaw did not leave until 8:44. The landing is scheduled for 10:25.
Kiervinsky points to fear
Minister of Interior and Administration Marcin Kierwiński in an interview with TVP Info referred to the planned proceeding of Zbigniew Ziobra before the Pegasus committee of inquiry. He pointed out that if the erstwhile Minister of Justice returned to the country, the police would take action to bring him to the meeting. He besides recalled that officers are present "in all places related to the life activity of the wanted individual to appear as a witness".
I see Mr. Ziobro doesn't want to appear before the committee, he's afraid. I'm not surprised. (...) This committee is yet a committee showing the pathology of the PiS government. And he was at the head of this pyramid of regulation in the PiS. So, yes, I anticipate Mr. Ziobro to effort to avoid questioning from the committee.
