After the organizational success of last year, we decided for the second time to organize a celebration in Oświęcim.
This year's celebrations were divided into 2 parts. The first part of the celebration was held in the Public Library "Book Gallery", in which a screening of films took place showing characters specified as "Łupasko", "Uskok", "Wiarus". The audience did, and we did not anticipate an audience of about 80 people.
The second part of the celebration began with a slight slip, due to the fact that we were waiting for participants, who marched with a shout on their mouth along with flags and wickets came to Kościuszko Square where the main celebrations took place that day. We started the celebration with a welcome of all gathered, the number did not fall to its knees. Those who should be, who should set an example, have not come! We don't know where they were. After a brief welcome, torches were handed out, which lit up and gave a circumstantial temper to this feast. Then we sang the National Hymn “Mazurka Dąbrowski”. The next point of the celebration was the speeches, we started by presenting our group and informing the gathered that we were successful in the first year of our activity. Ewa , who described the general activity of the “Cursed Soldiers” that they had pursued, what they fought for, what they had died for! and presented the figure of the last chief of the Home Army (AK) Leopold Okulicki.
Another talker was Agnieszka's friend, and on the longest day of the speech, she told everyone who arrived about our local Silent Major. Piotr Szewczyk, pp. “Czer”, “Siwy”, “Piter”. Our local hero came from under the Holy Babic. Agnieszka besides described the past of women called "Miss Cursed", who, on a par with men from the AK, NSZ, WiN troops, fought the russian occupier. The next talker was our colleague Adrian, who briefly and very factually discussed the stories of the Home Army branch and specifically the “Sosienka” branch, which operated in Oświęcim and conducted diversionary actions at the Auschwitz camp. That concludes the speeches.
We utilized all gap between the speeches to rise the cry of the glories of the Heroes as well as the shouts of our common enemies.
The next point of the celebration was the laying of wreaths and znica, which were arranged in the form of a cross. At the end of the ceremony, we thanked all those gathered and those who contributed to the organization of these celebrations. From here, we would besides like to thank the Union of Combatants, which we did not thank at the celebrations due to a tiny confusion. Finally, we take a group photograph with the Honorary Warta which was created by colleagues from the Auschwitz National Defence Battalion (Thanks a lot for coming). That concludes the celebration.
Hello and Glory to the Heroes!
