A Problemous Fusion

It should be recalled that since November 2022 Saudi Aramco has 1 3rd of the shares in the Gdańsk Refinery. This was a condition set by the European Commission to take over the Lotus by Orlen and implement their merger. The transaction was finalized for PLN 1.15 billion.

July 2023 The ultimate Chamber of Control published a study on, among others, the merger of Orlen with Lotos, resulting from controls at the Ministry of State Acts. The study indicated that the price paid by Saudi Aramco was at least PLN 5 billion lower than the actual value of this part of Lotus.
