Polish troops in 1863, in the strength of about 200 thousand, caused Tsar Russia about a 1000 battles and skirmishes, inflicting severe losses. Poles formed the National Government during the fight. The commanders of the uprising were Stefan Bobrowski, Marian Langiewicz, Ludwik Mierosławski and Romuald Traugutt, and in their ranks were fought, among others, by Jan Nurkiewicz, Józef Żychiewicz and St.
Although he did not bring military triumph in 1864, in the long word he contributed importantly to Poland's regaining independence. precisely half a century after the failure of the last commander of the uprising, Romuald Traugutt, the First Company of Personnel under the command of Marshal Józef Piłsudski departed from the Oleanders in Krakow in 1914. It was a clear signal that the fight for Poland's independency continued. The historical outline of events and their importance for the present was presented by the president of the “Gazeta Polska” Club in Nowy Targ, Karol Karpierz, conducting the ceremony.

“Gazeta Polska” was supported by January insurgents – then editors and owners (Józef Ignacy Kraszewski, Leopold Kronenberg, Karol Ruprecht) were part of the Municipal Delegation and the National Government. The “Gazeta Polska” club in Nowy Targ organizes the anniversary of the January Uprising for the 4th time, and in January this year it is 5 years since the start of the club’s business.

The event was organized at the Freedom Mound in Nowy Targ, which was put to sleep in the 500th anniversary of the triumph of the Polish-Lithuanian army over the Teutonic Knights at Grunwald. There is besides a lump of land from the United States, from Fort Pulaski in Savannah, emphasising the Polish-American alliance, as mentioned in his speech by anti-communist oppositionist Tadeusz Moravia.

The club's delegation laid a niche at the monument of the heroes of the fight for Poland's independence. In another speech, Joseph Brynekus mentioned the request to attend patriotic ceremonies.

Despite the cold weather, the event was very interesting. The assembled sang the song of the January insurgents “In the Blood Field of the Silver Bird” and “The parent of God”. It is worth remembering that the insurgents of January fought for our freedom in hard winter conditions.

Hello and glory to the January Uprisings – Polish Heroes!
