The force in the United States is expanding to defend children more effectively from content inappropriate to their age, reports The Verge. The fresh bill – App store Accountability Act – assumes that Apple and Google, not the developers of the application, will be liable for verifying the age of users. akin laws already apply in Texas and Utah, and subsequent states are considering their introduction. The national version of the bill could cover the full country.
The fresh rules would require that app stores verify the age of the user and transmit this information to applications erstwhile downloading. Proponents of the Act compare this work to regulation applied in average stores selling products subject to age restrictions, specified as alcohol or cigarettes.
Apple opposes changes, but increasing support for the thought of a centralised, one-time age verification that would improve the privacy and convenience of users – limiting the request to supply delicate data to each application separately.
