There is speculation in the media about the place where the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenski and Russian president Vladimir Putin could hold talks. Meanwhile, the head of the Russian Ministry of abroad Affairs, Sergei Lavrov, issued an urgent announcement on the matter.

After gathering Donald Trump first with Putin and later with Zelenski and the leaders of European states, the president of the United States said that the next step should be the talks of the president of Ukraine with the leader of Russia. However, the situation is complicated.

Zełenski-Putin gathering "is not planned"

Sergei Lavrow in an interview with the American NBC News station reported that Zelenski's gathering with Putin "is not planned".

– Putin is ready to meet Zelenski erstwhile the agenda of a possible summit is prepared, and this agenda is not ready at all," said the Russian abroad Minister.

He added, "President Putin clearly said he was ready for a meeting, provided that this gathering actually had a circumstantial program, a presidential program". He suggested that Ukraine was blocking advancement towards a peace agreement.

As Lavrow said, after a gathering in Alaska, Donald Trump suggested respective points that are shared by Russia and in any of them agreed to "show any flexibility."

As he said, the United States recognises, among others, the deficiency of Ukraine's membership of NATO and the request to discuss territorial issues. According to Jurov Zelenski, he rejected all these proposals.

– (Zelenski - ed.) he even said, as I mentioned, that he did not want to cancel the law prohibiting the usage of Russian. How can we meet individual who pretends to be a leader? – said Lavrow.

It sheds fresh light on the pursuit of peace

However, Ukraine did not illegalize Russian language. Putin besides repeated many times that in the east of Ukraine there was to be "genocide" on Russian-speaking people, but there is no evidence of this.

Volodymyr Zelenski estimated that Russia was trying to avoid talks while continuing massive attacks on Ukraine. He said he was ready to meet Putin. At the same time, he called for a strong consequence from the US and a tightening of sanctions if Russia refused to negotiate.

As we wrote on Temat.pl, on Thursday Russia carried out 1 of the largest air attacks on Ukraine since the beginning of the war. The goal was, among others, the plants of a large American electronics maker in the west of the country.
