Can you imagine Gdańsk without full access to its charming marina at the Milky Stings? This is simply a question that begins to take real form in the face of problems with further deception of the unchangeable Bridge – a key point for the city's navigation. The situation makes the functionality behind the marina bridge questionable, which, unfortunately, can become useless without free access for vessels.
The Gdańsk Road and Green Board (GZDiZ) faces a major challenge – uncovering a contractor capable of handling the bridge beginning mechanics proved to be a more hard task than expected. Following the cancellation of the last tender on 21 March this year, the situation becomes increasingly complicated.
On the 1 hand, we have PLN 179,850.00 gross, which GZDiZ intends to allocate to the execution of the order. On the another hand, time is playing against us – the word of the order is 214 days, with the planned period of performance of the contract from 1 April to 31 October 2024.
The erstwhile company completed, according to the documentation at GZDiZ, cooperation to deceive the bridge for a period of 8 months. Last year the company received a payment of... PLN 185 thousand. No wonder that she did not enter another tender – for 2024, in which GZDiZ proposed little than PLN 180 1000 with expanding costs of moving the company.
So far, the deception of the bridge has been that a sailor called for a footbridge service on Ołowianka. The footbridge service, on the another hand, called the unchangeable Bridge service company. The bridge was lifted at the time.
What about marina and shipping in Gdańsk?
The consequences of this situation can be far-reaching. Marina, located behind the unchangeable Bridge, without the anticipation of free movement of vessels, may lose its attractiveness, which would hit not only sailing enthusiasts, but besides tourism and the local economy of Gdańsk. This is simply a situation that no 1 would want, especially given the importance of shipping and water tourism for the region.
In the face of these challenges, we call on possible performers to take an interest in this project. We realize that the task is not simple, but its implementation is crucial for the life of the city and its inhabitants. At the same time, it is besides an chance for social mobilisation – supporting the local community can aid to find a solution and accelerate the bridge repair process.
The unchangeable Bridge. beginning with a bang
The situation with the Stągiewny Bridge in Gdańsk is simply a reminder that shipping infrastructure is not only a substance of transport, but besides an crucial component of the social and economical life of the city. We are convinced that appropriate mobilisation at both the level of the performers and the local community will let us to rapidly find a solution and reconstruct the full functionality of the unchangeable Bridge. However, time is crucial and action must be taken rapidly to guarantee the continuity of the city's life and its tourist attractiveness.
The Stagiewny Bridge underwent a thorough renovation and to facilitate the flow of the tiny fleet was converted into a drawbridge. This reconstruction is 1 of the last stages of the private-public partnership on the island of Spichrzów.
