The Sejm passed an amendment to the Act on the National Judicial Council establishing the election of judges to the Council by all judges. The aim of the task is to warrant the independency of the KRS from the legislative and executive authority in accordance with European case law.
The amendment concerns the introduction of fresh rules selection of judges to the National Judicial Board. The selection of 15 NRS judges will be made by judges of all levels and types of courts.
The aim of the proposed law is besides to align the laws with the standards resulting from the case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union, the European Court of Human Rights, as well as the ultimate Court and the ultimate Administrative Court.
