The Central Command of the United States (CENTCOM) has released recordings showing the first always combat usage of Precision Strike rocket weapons. A precision ballistic rocket was launched from the M124 HIMARS strategy as part of Operation "Epicka fury" aimed at the government of the muslim Republic of Iran.

Precision Strike rocket (PrSM) is simply a precise ground-to-earth ballistic rocket developed by Lockheed Martin, which increases the ability to attack, neutralize, overpower and destruct targets by means of indirect fire. A modern American short and average scope ballistic rocket replaces an MGM-140 ATACMS (Army Tactical rocket System) rocket in the US Army that offends targets up to 300 km away. The PrSM scope exceeds 500 km.

Unlike ATACMS, which is simply a closed construction, PrSM features an open construction allowing for modernization, it besides has a modern head and guidance system. This projectile besides uses the alleged Insensitive Munition (IM), meaning that the rocket does not detonate accidentally after hitting the shrapnel and is more fire-resistant, impact-resistant or detonation-related (increased safety in retention and transport). PrSM can be fired from M124 HIMARS and M270A2 MLRS systems. W HIMARS launcher There are 2 specified missiles simultaneously, which represents another advantage over ATACMS (one rocket in the launcher).

The first usage of Precision Strike rocket is not only a demonstration of the ability of fresh weapons, but besides an crucial signal to the opponent that US Army land troops with the aid of mobile launchers can rapidly and precisely hit targets deep within enemy territory. HIMARS launchers can fire from distributed positions protected by their own air defense, and then change position immediately before the opponent reacts. PrSM capabilities are applicable in combating mobile air defence systems, rocket launcher support vehicles or temporary command stations. At the same time, these missiles pose a serious threat to the reinforced targets, including underground facilities.

PrSM went on to equip the American Army in late 2023. The first combat test was conducted in June 2024, during which 2 missiles were utilized to hit the mark at sea. In 2025, the military signed a framework agreement with Lockheed Martin with a maximum value of $4.9 billion for the production and transportation of an unspecified number of PrSM missiles. The first order under this contract active 400 rounds. In January 2025, defence ministers of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia confirmed their common interest in buying PrSM missiles into their HIMARS systems, declaring that the introduction of precise missiles is part of their defence strategy and is intended to importantly increase their deterrence capacity and readiness to defend themselves.
