By 2030, a modern railway line will be ready, connecting Gdów and surrounding towns with Krakow. Their residents will be able to get to the capital of Małopolska in little than 30 minutes. Today, a contract was signed in Gdów for the implementation of the next phase of the task “Podłoże-Piekiełko” – 1 of the largest investments of Polish Railway Lines in the country. The value of the contract is almost PLN 3.2 billion gross, and contractors – a consortium of Budimex SA, Budimex Kolejnictwo SA and Ferrovial Construction (UK) Limited – have 46 months to build a fresh section. – The Podleże-Piekiełko task is an investment that is of large importance for the improvement of the full region. It is not just the construction of railway tracks. This is an impetus for the full Małopolska region – for local communities, economy, tourism and mobility of residents – said the Minister of Infrastructure Dariusz Klimczak.
Travel in little than 30 minutes
The Podleje–Gd way will be two-track, electrified and equipped with modern stations and stops. As part of the investment, fresh tracks, bridges, viaducts and a two-nave tunnel will be created. In addition to the station in Gdów, the station Podęże Balachówka and the stops in Zagórze close Niepołomic and in Wiatowice will be built. We want mega-investments specified as Podłęże-Piekiełko to be implemented quickly, with minimal bureaucracy, so that construction is at the centre of the investment project, not its preparation," said infrastructure minister Dariusz Klimczak and announced a fresh deregulation package for the Polish construction industry.

‘Podles–Piekiełko’: the largest railway investment in Małopolska
