On Thursday, the Armed Forces General Command reported the tragic death of a 1st Armoured Brigade soldier who was attacked with a knife on the border with Belarus.
"We regret to inform you that on 6 June in the afternoon at the Military Medical Institute in Warsaw, surrounded by support from household and soldiers, a knifed soldier of the 1st Armoured Brigade died," General Command on platform X.
Despite the immediate assistance given at the scene and the efforts of doctors, the life of the soldier was not saved. The bandit attack took place on 28 May in the morning on a section of the border in the area of Dubicz Church in Podlaskie Voivodeship. The assailant stabbed the area around his chest, which proved fatal.

General Command besides reported that close to the deceased soldier was provided with support and intellectual care. “Additional assistance, both intellectual and organisational, will proceed depending on the family’s will”, added.
The tragedy on the border underlines the dangers that Polish soldiers serving in border areas must face. This event is simply a sad reminder of the dangers that those who defender national safety may face.
