Since 1 October 2025, Poland has a bailout system. She's inactive giving up quite a few questions. Poles began to wonder if the bail would besides be collected in restaurants. The Ministry of Climate and Environment decided to explain this.
The aim of the introduction of the bailout strategy in Poland is to advance recycling and re-use of packaging. Since the beginning of October, bottles and cans are starting to appear in stores, with a clear sign of bail with its amount. However, the process will take any time. Manufacturers have until the end of December 2025 to introduce fresh labels.

New bail strategy in Poland. How many returns can you get?
The bailout strategy includes plastic bottles with a capacity of up to 3 litres (you will receive 50 cents return), metallic cans with a capacity of up to 1 litre (you will receive 50 cents return) and glass bottles with a capacity of up to 1.5 liters (you will receive a return gold). You can collect the deposit later erstwhile you return the package in the store or machine.


The deposit includes water bottles, juices, beer and various soda and non-gaseous beverages. Milk, yogurt and another milk drinks are excluded from the system. The Ministry of Climate and Environment emphasizes that in the case of on-site sales (e.g. drink consumed in the premises or poured into a glass) no deposit will be required as the packaging does not leave the premises.

The bail system. Return rules in restaurants
As you can read on gov.pl, the catering point will be able to return the package to the collection point. On the another hand, if the client decides to take the bottle or can with him, then the place should take bail from him. This means that the corresponding deposit amount will be included in the account. The collection points are:


all shops over 200 sq m that offer drinks in packages covered by the bail scheme,
shops little than 200 sq m, where beverages are sold in reusable glass bottles (now on the marketplace it concerns mainly beer drinks),
other shops that have joined the system,
deposit machines available besides outside the trading points,
other collection points.
