Not just a carbine. Without accessories, the fresh weapon will not be effective

In the 3rd part of the analysis devoted to the selection of individual defence weapons for the Polish Armed Forces, we look at the key elements of the completion of fresh sub-carbines and stockless designs. The choice of a carbine powered by 5.56×45 mm ammunition – whether in the classical SBR or the stockless Bullpup strategy – is only half the battle. A drastic shortening of the barrel generates a powerful shock wave, flash and deafening bang, which in the cramped interiors of combat vehicles make it impossible to effectively usage weapons without specialized muzzle devices. An equally crucial issue remains the rejection of mechanical sights in favour of collimator and holographic sights, which warrant firing in crew helmets, headphones and gas masks.
