Honey, honey, possibly honey. How should honey from more than 1 country be defined?
The Minister for Agriculture and agrarian improvement has prepared a regulation amending the Regulation on the labelling of peculiar types of foodstuffs (RCL list No 576). The consultation deadline is October 3. So far, according to the legislation, the honey labelling in the packages gives the name of the country or countries of origin in which the honey is harvested and, where honey comes from more than 1 country, the indication that it is simply a mixture of honeys: originating in the EU, not originating in the EU, or a mixture of honeys originating in the EU and not originating in the EU.
Such a plan of the above mentioned government makes it possible not to indicate the country of origin on the description and tells the consumer small about the origin of the honey... The measures imposing an work to designate all countries of origin in mixed honey apply in countries specified as Hungary, Italy, Cyprus, Greece, Spain, Malta, France and Portugal.

The Ministry of Agriculture proposed a change in the labelling and the introduction of the provision that "the name of the country or countries of origin in which the honey has been harvested and, where honey originates from more than 1 country, the names of the countries of origin in which the honey has been harvested, listed in order from the largest volume share of honey collected in the country afraid to the smallest volume share of honey collected in the country afraid throughout the product.’

The “Corona” Agricultural Trade Union in a letter to the Ministry supported the thought of changing the product designation, but indicated that the proposed solution, in addition to the information value, may prove ineffective, as it will be small visible on the product label. For these reasons, the Union has proposed a different inducement to the sellers of the explicit marking, namely the designation of the product as A mediate alternatively of MIOD.Where honey comes from more than 1 country, the product may not be labelled as honey but as a honey resident. Paragraph 2 (1) to (7) shall apply mutatis mutandis. It’s okay. ”

As indicated by Dr Daniel Alain Korona, the Union lawyer – The designation of honey from many countries as honey mimes and not as honey would consequence in any consumers switching to honey coming from 1 country only, for example, from Polish apiaries, and would lead any companies to quit their blends, and the consumer would know what kind of product he is buying.
