The Norwegian authorities expelled on Wednesday from the country and banned the arrival for 5 years to a Chinese citizen who was detained in the town of Bodoe, where the NATO air operation center supervising North Europe is located.
The man was detained in mid-May in a bunker located just off the main air base in Bodoe. The Norwegian PST counterintelligence suspected that he was trying to admit military activity and get information covered by state secrecy.
The Chinese didn't plead guilty. After being released from temporary detention, he was placed at a abroad facility. At the end of July, the D.A. dismissed the investigation due to the fact that it failed to show that he was collecting or trying to collect information for intelligence services.
In the course of immigration proceedings, it was found that the man had an invalid visa issued by Spain, exceeded the allowed time of stay in the Schengen area and provided incorrect information in visa applications. He besides provided various explanations concerning the intent of the visit to Norway.
The Office for Foreigners (UDI) expelled a man on Wednesday. He won't be able to come to Norway for 5 years.
