Nolan's main message in his "Odyssey" screening is that the Trojan War and its atrocities and deception led to the fall of the era of the heros. The fall of beautiful Helena, who turns from white beauty to black ugly, well symbolizes. Beauty fell apart, just like their full Bronze Age planet fell apart.
And it fell apart because, above all, they destroyed the "law of Zeus" or "xenia" - the principles of hospitality, which the kidnapping of Helena by Parys and then reflection of her utilizing a Trojan horse is an perfect symbol. They broke that law, which resulted in the slaughter of innocent people, and then a long-term wandering of soldiers, so that only Odysseus himself remained. It's very clear in the film.
This is an anti-war film, showing that breaking the principles of hospitality, and mostly the principles of peaceful cooperation, leads to a terrible disaster and many sufferings.
The scene, erstwhile we first saw Helena in Nolan's film, was very distinctive and meaningful. Menelaus pointed out to Telemachah the face of Helena, speaking mockingly of beauty, and it was visible that she was ugly, and then we saw the second cheek with the shrapnel, which further increased the effect of the suffocation. It was a very clear message: see what war does to people — an unearthed white beauty turns into a black monster.
I didn't read anything about Odyssey's screening before watching the film, or what Nolan himself wrote, but it turns out that I clearly recognized his intentions and goals erstwhile I saw the film!
According to the widely available post, Nolan claims that Odyssey yet concerns the thought that society can only function thanks to the estimates of the host for the guests and the rules that the guest should not abuse this hospitality, suggesting that this timeless regulation remains as valid present as 3000 years ago.

The first time I heard a legend about a Trojan horse erstwhile I was a kid, I thought to myself, "What a cool trick! The Greeks will come up with a smart idea, and they've done a good occupation with the Trojan! It wasn't until Nolan's movie that made me realize it wasn't a win at all and it wasn't fun! It was morally disgusting and in practice destroying all of Greece. The Trojans weren't stupid, they were Greek immoral.
It's precisely the same as saying about the Holocaust that it was fun to trick Jews, that they weren't going to the bathhouse, they were going to the gas chamber. That's cool, the Germans figured it out and won against the Jews, didn't they? No!!! It was a cruel crime and that Trojan Horse was a crime too! The Jews were not stupid, but the Germans were immoral.
Today, we have the chance to reconstruct the principles of peaceful human intercourse with 1 another, due to the fact that countries, or the top human killers in history, are no longer paying off and will shortly fall.
