Podchorzego Day was first celebrated in 1908 under occupations at the underground Podchorzech School in Lviv. The festival was established on the anniversary of the outbreak of November 29, 1830. On that day a group of subjects from the School of Infantry Podchorzych in Warsaw under the leadership of Lieutenant Piotr Wysocki attacked Belveder, residence of the large Duke of Constanty, Russian commander of the Polish army. This started the top armed effort in the conflict for independency in the 19th century. Podchorzego Day has been officially celebrated since Poland regained independency in 1918.
