Invisible battlefield: Arctic cables and transatlantic security

Under conditions of expanding rivalry, cables in the Arctic have besides become the perfect mark of hybrid and sabotage activities. The author of the study describes 17 incidents from 2018 to 2020 in the advanced North region, indicating the repetition of harm close ground stations, cosmodromes and sea observatories – from Greenland and Svalbard, through Norway and GIUK gap, to Alaska and Canada. According to the ICDS, the scale of the problem and its implications for chain of command, reconnaissance and reflection systems are underestimated present in state policies and alliances.
