Berlin is just a partner, not an overseer? Well, meet the German Marshall Fund – a foundation that almost wholesales "talents" to Donald Tusk's current government.

One can get the impression that GMF not so much affects the government as it co-creates it. Now let's look at the foundation itself. Officially – think-tank. And unofficially? An influence laboratory that trains elites to peripheral countries. And you gotta give back to Germany – they have a head on their shoulders. Why play tanks and ultimatum erstwhile you can send a fewer sympathetic scholarship holders with a grant and a ready-to-use transfer? They then work in “independent” media, “apolitical” NGOs or straight – in government. And Poland? Poland does not request to be conquered. It is adequate that Poland will be ruled by people formed by strangers.
German soft power? No, it's just a modern version of colonialism. The difference is that alternatively of plantations we have the Chancellery of the Prime Minister and alternatively of whips – grants, scholarships and "democratic values". Germany understands that you are most effectively subject to the hands of its own citizens. Therefore, GMF does precisely what it needs to do – it trains, supports, shapes perception and... patiently waits for results. And these just came. In the form of a government from the German haul.
