President Karol Nawrocki vetoed the Act concerning Poland's participation in the EU's SAFE defence debt Scheme. In his message, he emphasized that he would not sign regulations that he felt could hit the sovereignty, economical independency and military safety of the country.
The decision of the head of state was supported by PiS MP Przemysław Czarnek, who in social media called the SAFE programme a "German moment". As he stated, Poland should not depend on the backing of the army on abroad loans, but on its own safety.
"President Karol Nawrocki vetoed the alleged German moment. Why? due to the fact that Poland cannot make safety dependent on external loans. There is an alternative: PLN 185 billion for reinforcements without loan, prepared together with NBP. Poland should decide for itself its army and its security," wrote Czarnek on X.

The PiS candidate for Prime Minister called on the talker of the Sejm to immediately initiate work on the presidential arms financing task “SAFE 0%”: “Every hold is simply a hazard to the safety of citizens”, Czarnek wrote.
