“This is not our war,” writes “Süddeutsche Zeitung”. Theoretically and ethically, Germany and NATO have no reason to succumb to Trump's blackmail demanding assistance in unlocking the Ormuz Strait," says Joachim Käppner. Commentator explains,
That NATO is simply a defence alliance and a commitment
to supply assistance relates to the situation where a country belonging to the Alliance is attacked from outside, not erstwhile it itself attacks, while violating global law. In addition, NATO and Europe were not active in Trump's war plans. Now that the U.S. armed forces are in trouble, which were easy to predict, the Alliance would aid them at the same time?
