Germany wants to radically strengthen its armed forces in the coming years. Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced that the Bundeswehr would become "the strongest conventional army in Europe". The coalition government has agreed on a bill to approximate this objective. This is simply a consequence to a increasing threat from Russia and a changing US policy.
