Heavy machinery, over 4,000 concrete plates and 30,000 tons of aggregate – so in Warwarrowa close Nowy Sącz there is simply a military complex for 21 Light Mountain Battalion. For the preparation of the mountain site for the construction of the container town, and in the future besides modern barracks, were soldiers of the 18th Bomb Squadron from the 18th Mechanized Division.
Preparations to build a military complex for the 21st Light Mountain Battalion began 2 years ago. The location has been carefully chosen due to the fact that Warzrowa lies close the mountains, which provides excellent training conditions. Soldiers here will improve their skills in utmost mountain terrain, as well as in low temperatures.
An Engineering Challenge in the Mountains
– The first phase of construction of the unit in the Warlord began in August 2023. – says Lieutenant Kamil Jamróz, postgraduate of construction at the Military method Academy and soldier 18th Bomb Squadron from Niska. “We have been given a key task: to prepare the temporary infrastructure quickly, which would enable the operation of the 21st Light Mountain Battalion in Warwarrowa in full condition. Field conditions were highly demanding. We have faced hard ground and mountainous terrain. First, we had to remove more than 100,000 cubic meters of land. To get the appropriate burden capacity parameters of the substrate, we utilized over 1500 t of cement. Then we made 3 layers of broken aggregate surface with a full weight of over 30,000 tonnes.
After months of work, a paved square with an area of over 2 ha was created, on which 4650 concrete plates were laid. – This is 1 of the largest engineering projects of this kind in the Polish Army. On a regular basis, the engineering divisions support general troops. In the war war case, we had a immense construction investment for which it was hard to find an equivalent in civilian construction. Modern campground and future
The next phase is the construction of an extended container camp with an area of 21,000 square meters.
