Bishop elder Kazimierz Romaniuk, the first bishop of the Diocese of Warsaw-Pravia, a valued Polish Bible scholar, translator of both letters to the Corinthians in the Millennium Bible, is dead. His work of life was the translation of the Warsaw-Prague Bible. He was 97.
Kazimierz Romaniuk was born in Holowienka close Sokolov Podlaski. During planet War II, his household lived in Warsaw. Kazimierz was educated on secret junior advanced classes, which he completed in 1944 with a alleged "little matriculation". He participated in the uprising in Warsaw, and after its collapse he was in a camp in Pruszków. He managed to escape, he had to hide from the Germans until the end of the occupation.
After the war, he joined the Higher Metropolitan spiritual Seminary. The priestly celebrations were accepted by the primate of Poland, then Archbishop Stefan Wyszyński on 16 December 1951 in Warsaw.
In 1955 he defended his doctorate in the Faculty of Theology at the University of Warsaw. He continued his studies from 1956 to 1958 at the Pontifical Bible Institute in Rome, besides finishing them with a doctorate. In 1969 he received the title of prof. of extraordinary and in 1971 prof. of average Bible teachings.
On February 20, 1982 Pope John Paul II appointed him as the Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Warsaw with the titular capital Sicca Veneris (Siccenis). The bishop's celebration was accepted by Archbishop Joseph Glemp on 4 March 1982 in the Archaeology of St John in Warsaw.
In the Polish Episcopal Conference, Bishop Romaniuk was the president of the subcommittee of the Holy Scriptures Episcopal, Vice-Chair of the Commission of the Episcopal Committee on Catholic Publishers, a associate of the technological Council of the Episcopal Committee on Catholic Science, co-chair of the Joint Committee on Pontifical Faculties, a associate of the Committee of the Episcopal Committee on spiritual Seminars, a subcommittee of the State-Church Commission on Seminars and the State Codification Commission on Higher Education.
In 1997 he completed a translation of the full Bible from first languages to Polish (Warsaw-Prague Bible). It was the first in 400 years (after a translation made in the 16th century by Fr James Uncle) to translate the Bible into Polish by 1 translator.
After reaching retirement age on August 26, 2004, he resigned from the duties of the pastor of the Diocese of Warsaw-Pravia. Bishop Romaniuk was the author of 65 books and about 450 technological articles in national and abroad journals.
