The war has been going on beyond our east border for over 3 years, and late Russian drones have breached Polish airspace. The fresh IBRiS poll for Radio ZET asked Poles how they would behave in a situation of threat of war – that is, whether they would come forward to defend the country.
Poles answered whether they would fight for the country
According to the study, almost half of the respondents – 49.1 percent would not be able to defend the country. In this group, 17.9% chose the answer "decisively not", and 31.2% "preferably not". In turn, 44.8% of respondents declare their readiness to defend Poland. Of which 20.7% pointed to "agreement yes" and 24.1% pointed to "perhaps yes". 6.1% of respondents chose the answer "I don't know/difficult to say".
Young Poles are the least willing – 69 percent from 18 to 29 years of age will not come to defend the country in a situation of danger (64 percent answered "apparently not", and 5 percent "decisively not").
13 percent of young Poles surveyed replied "perhaps so". No 1 in this age group indicated the option of "decisively yes." 18% of young people could not find how they would behave in the face of the threat of Poland.
On the another hand, the top readiness to defend the country was declared by people between the ages of 30 and 49. On average, 60% of respondents indicated this response. 39 percent of Poles aged 30-39 and 35 percent of Poles aged 40-49 admit that they would not be able to defend the country. another people in these groups are indecisive.
Among the surveyed Poles, all 3rd (33%) indicated that she would volunteer to defend Poland. 55 percent gave the other answer. In the case of men, the readiness to defend declared 54 percent and 44 percent indicated the option "no".
That's what the organization voters said.
IBRiS besides checked how the political views of the respondents influence the readiness to defend Poland. Among PiS supporters, 56% declare that if threatened, they would fight for the country. The other consequence was 43 percent.
In the case of KO sympathizers, 49 percent would stand up for defence and 45 percent would not. Among the Confederate voters, 44 percent declared their readiness to fight. The other is 56 percent.
On the another hand, 26 percent of the voters of Poland 2050 and the Polish People's organization declared that they would be able to defend the country in the event of a threat, while 72 percent chose the answer "no". Among the fresh Left sympathizers, 51% announced that they would not be able to defend the country and 36% declared ready to fight.
A nationwide survey was conducted by the Institute for marketplace and Social investigation of IBRiS by telephone, standardized questionnaire interviews assisted by computer (CATI), on 13-14 September 2025, on a typical example of 1067 Poles.
