The Operational Commander of the RSZ, Gen. Maciej Klisz, powerfully denied information about the alleged usage of Polish airspace by Ukrainian drones for attacks on Russia. He explained that the restrictions on flights in east Poland, which have been in force since September 2025, are purely preventive and service to defend the state's infrastructure.

"I powerfully emphasise that the claims about the alleged release of Polish airspace to offensive activities against the Russian Federation are completely false and have no basis in facts" - says the communication on platform X issued by the Russian Federation. Gen. defends Maciej Klish, Commander of the Operations Types of Armed Forces.
It besides noted that the aviation activity observed over the territory of the country is purely defensive and is due to the request to respond to the safety situation in the region. "Temporary restrictions on air traffic were not introduced in March 2026, but already in September 2025 – after the massive violations of the airspace of the Republic of Poland by Russian unmanned aircraft", General Klisz assured.
He added that these decisions are purely preventive and service the protection of the lives and wellness of citizens and the safety of state infrastructure. As stressed by the Operational Commander of the RFA, all activities are carried out responsibly, in close cooperation with national institutions and allies. General Klisz assured that the safety of Polish citizens remains the highest precedence of the armed forces.
From dawn to dark
About the limitation of air traffic in east Poland, along the borders of the country with Belarus and Ukraine, renewed at the request of DORSZ, informed the Polish Air Navigation Agency on 3 March. Restrictions on the free usage of this part of the Polish airspace are to apply from 10 March to 9 June 2026.
“The region covers space from ground level to 3 km. Therefore, it does not apply to passenger aircraft operating at higher altitudes,” explained PAJP. Under the current rules, the east part of the country from the west to the sunrise has a full ban on flights, with the exception of military aircraft and coordinated with the Centre for Air Operations launches and landings from the Royal Deputies Airport.
However, during the day, i.e. from sunrise to sunset, flight bans, as indicated by PASZP, do not include manned aircraft operating after the flight plan has been submitted and equipped with operating transponders and maintaining communication with the authority liable for the organisation, supervision and operation of air traffic control. Nor does it apply to military aircraft and civilian unmanned aircraft, provided that the air defence recognition zones of Belarus and Ukraine are not affected.
Navigation errors
General Klisz's message was a reaction to the statements of Vladimir Skalik from the Confederation of the Polish Crown. “The experts clearly say that the Polish authorities consciously separated and made available the Polish airspace to carry out the attack by Ukraine with drones on oil infrastructure in the Leningrad region and on the Russian ports Ust-Ługa and Primorsk”, said Skalik in the Sejm on 27 March. "In my opinion, these are deliberate attempts to straight affect Poland in the war with Russia and to bring large danger to our nation. halt the instigators. Poland behind the room," added KKP MP.
The fact is that the Ukrainians have late intensified the impact on the maritime infrastructure on the Baltic Sea. And that as a result, the number of incidents related to unmanned drones has increased – wrecks of Ukrainian drones have late been found in Lithuania and Finland. Experts point out that in the event of mark strikes in the Leningrad Oblast, possible drone routes lead through the territory of Belarus, which increases the hazard of them appearing in the airspace of NATO States, both due to navigational errors and the impact of radio-electronic combat systems.
