What to do erstwhile we hear alarm sirens, what to bring with us in the event of evacuation, where to get information, how to safe documents, what are the emergency stages in Poland – this was taught by the participants of the safety course as part of the program “in Goto” in Wrocław, organized by the 16th Lower Silesian Territorial Defence Brigade. akin training takes place throughout Poland.
On Saturday morning, 22 volunteers from 28 people volunteered for training in Wroclaw. Participants were waiting for a series of shows and lectures which were conducted by instructors from 16 DBOT and the Volunteer Fire Service. – The safety basics course is cross-cutting. Therefore, in addition to the issue of alerting, emergency behaviour, we besides teach the elements of another trainings within the framework of programme inReady – i.e. first aid or basic principles of cyberhygiene and cybersecurity – explains the scale. Konrad of 16 DBOT, who conducted classes with participants of today's course.
The basic sound alarm signal in Poland is simply a three-minute continuous signal. It does not specify the kind of danger, it simply informs the population that caution should be exercised. What if we hear him? “First of all, radio or tv should be switched on as shortly as possible, where emergency messages and rules of conduct, e.g. in case of request of evacuation,” explains the instructor. As he adds, it is besides crucial to know what to take with you erstwhile you gotta leave your home. quite a few people make a fundamental mistake trying to take besides many things. Absolute base is water, food, medicines, warm clothes, something to cover up, cash, documents, phone, extra smaller backpack. A multi-functional or multitool pocket, powerbank, silver construction tape, flashlight and battery radio are besides very useful, which, in a situation of broken telephone, satellite, deficiency of net access, etc., frequently prove to be the most reliable device to receive messages about the threat.
– A very good solution, which many people do not remember, is to make digital copies of the most crucial documents, due to the fact that we will not be able to take all of them – concerning e.g. property ownership, the state of possession, bank accounts and download e.g. on a flash drive, which we will take with us. If, as a consequence of the threat: war or natural disaster, our papers are destroyed, we have evidence of their existence in the form of scans on a digital average – adds the scale. Konrad. He points out that people who apply for classes in the Readyness Cycle are not random people, but willing people who truly want to get the essential cognition and be prepared erstwhile the hard time comes.
The Saturday course in 16 DBOT was attended by Dr. Joanna Siekiera, an global lawyer and NATO consultant, training American soldiers from the law of war, among others. As she says, she volunteered for the Goth Program due to the fact that she just wants to be prepared for crisis situations, like any citizen. Besides, she admits that she truly likes the thought of the program itself. – due to my work I travel the planet a lot and I gotta say that I am arrogant of what Poles do. The large thing is that the program has an open expression for everyone, even for children from the age of 13. I haven't seen it anywhere else abroad, and it's truly very good. The programme is delicate not only to the threat of war but besides to various types of crises. We here in Wroclaw, haunted by floods, had to deal with it, so it is all the more worth acquiring this cognition – explains Dr. Siekiera.
