The remains of the “unidentified flying object” as the prosecutor calls it, fell on the home in Wyryka in Lublin, causing destruction. The D.A. and MON don't give out details of the incident. According to the findings of “Rzeczpospolita”, it was an object launched by a Polish F-16 fighter erstwhile attempting to shoot down a drone. The origin may have been “missile guidance strategy dysfunction”.

Last week was reported mass breach of Polish airspace by drones, which were most likely launched in Russia and flew to Poland from Ukraine and Belarus. Most of them were classified as “wabiki”, i.e. specified drones that are to draw anti-aircraft defence distant from drones with explosives.

The drones did no harm with 1 exception — in Wyryka Wola, close Włodawa, a “unidentified flying object” damaged the roof, pierced the ceiling and almost led to tragedy in a private house. The hosts avoided the injuries due to the fact that the owner had already left the bedroom just before the incident.

This incidental is being investigated by the Lublin D.A. According to the survey, 17 drones were found in Poland, which were easy identified, nevertheless object from Wyryk remains a mystery.

“The object has not been identified as a drone at the moment, nor as a fragment of it,” the prosecutor stated in the communication. The details of the incidental are the subject of an investigation and are awaiting the expert's opinion.

The anti-aircraft defence rocket fell on the house. Complicated investigation

According to the findings of “Rzeczpospolita” as a consequence of anti-aircraft defence actions on the home in Wyryka, not a Russian drone fell, but about a three-meter Polish air-air rocket AIM-120 AMRAAM launched from the Polish F-16.

Deputy Head of MON Cezary Tomczyk admitted the shooting down of 3 Russian drones last week, however, without indicating the location of these losses. According to information The rocket that fell on the home had a faulty guidance system. “ Fortunately, it did not arm itself and did not explode, due to the fact that the fuse protections worked” — revealed the origin of “Rzeczpospolita”.

The home was destroyed by a kinetic impact, as Colonel Maciej Korowaj, a erstwhile Army Intelligence Service officer, tells the journal. “There was no explosion, there was no explosion, as can be seen in the photos of the destroyed house,” the expert emphasizes.

Informally, the work of the Polish army for the harm was admitted by the spokesperson of MON Janusz Seymej. He assured PAP that The military will support the victims from a damaged home — already helping clean up the harm and then make up for their losses under the same conditions as, for example, losses caused by military exercises or aviation activities.

Local authorities immediately became active in helping an aged couple surviving in a damaged building. The municipal authorities have provided a replacement place and started a collection of funds for the reconstruction of the house, the cost of which was initially estimated at PLN 50 thousand, but the expert will carry out accurate calculations.

The incidental in Wyryka and the tragedy in Wire

Some experts compare the incidental in Wyrykas to the tragedy in Wire, where in 2022 a rocket exploded, killing 2 people. The event took place during a mass Russian shelling of Ukraine, during which rocket missiles launched by Ukraine had case go to Poland.

Although experts established that it was a Russian-produced missile, it was launched from the Ukrainian anti-aircraft defence system. The day after the event, president Andrzej Duda stated that most likely this projectile was fired as part of a defensive action by Ukrainian forces and mistakenly fell into Poland.

The investigation was stuck in place due to the deficiency of cooperation of the Ukrainian side. Ukraine did not pay compensation to the families of the victims.
