The Deputy Prime Minister of Moldova for the Reintegration of Valerie Civeri reported that the unrecognized Transnistria was again in an energy crisis for method reasons.

15 December Unrecognised authorities Transnistria announced an emergency in the economy due to gas supply problems. Civeri pointed out that this is not the first specified case in the region.

‘If you remember, the same condition was in force from December 24 to August 25. The emergency has late been re-declared," the Deputy Prime Minister said.

He explained that the causes of the current problems "are not political but technical" and are linked to the change in the payment model and the refusal of authorities The surplus of the adoption of the Government proposal in Chisinau, supported by European partners, on a transparent gas supply mechanism.

"We foretell that this situation or energy crises may be more or little repeated all 2 to 3 weeks. This model is not sustainable and the payment entity can be changed at any time, depending on the sanctioning government applied by the European Union," Civeri added.

In November, in Transnistria, due to limited gas supplies, large industrial plants began to halt and a key power plant was switched from gas to coal.

According to the media, the gas deficit was due to the hold of another payment for natural material delivered to Transnistria, for which Russia pays. Already in October, the authorities in Chisinau warned against the hazard of worsening the gas crisis in the region. At that time, temporary gas saving rules were introduced – most likely due to another change of the Russian natural material intermediary company.

Let us remind you that since the end of the winter of 2025 – after the region operated without gas for a period – Russian gas supplies to Transnistria are carried out under a complex and opaque mechanism, in which the company registered in the United arabian Emirates mediated.
